Investment Guide 2020

Welcome to the 2020 Investment Guide!

I’m so truly happy that you found your way here, and to this moment in your life and relationship.  My couples are like me: adventurous, fun, down-to-earth and living life to it’s fullestwith celebrations rooted in love, family, nature, unique traditions.

I work to create a plan for the day’s photography that feels effortless and highlights the authentic moments.  Comfort and connection are key in the photographer/client relationship and the pictures will reflect who you really are and what the day means to you.

My style is fine-art, which means an interpretive, artistic, and documentary approach to capturing your day.  I emphasize natural light and candid moments and I focus on love, beautiful details and the people you love.  Part of my process is getting to know you and making sure that it’s a great fit before booking your wedding.

I am lucky enough to work with amazing couples who end up feeling like old friends and families who welcome me like their long lost relative.  My clients value beautiful photography, and make it a priority in the timing of their day.  Finding the right photographer is a priority because we will spend your whole day in echother’s presence, the more comfortable and beautiful you feel in front of the camera, the more authentic and amazing your wedding images will be.

Hey there!

I’m Sarah.  I love pickles, my cat, curating road trip playlists (ask me for one!)  and staying in bed on Sunday mornings.

For me, the story began many moons ago when my Grandmother gave me the family 35mm film camera and I shot and developed my first roll of film in the darkroom.  I was sold, debatable whether my first love was my first boyfriend or photography.  Fast-forward fifteen years and I am a destination wedding photographer with a B F A in Fine-Art Photography and Photojournalism, having studied under some of the world’s premier photographers + photojournalists.  I have lived from Portland, OR, to Seattle, WA, to Boston.

Image-making has allowed me to meet unique, beautiful people and share in their joyful celebrations, to explore new places, be outside in nature often, and to document a part of life that is deeply meaningful to me: love, culture and relationships. I’m so truly invested in making beautiful, timeless images, and in photography being a fun and memorable part of your wedding experience.  Nowhere is too far to travel for an adventure. This is my story, and I am honored to be a part of yours.

What Can We Expect?
How It Works
Your Wedding Timeline
When?

Typically for weddings I book 10-18 months in advance and for elopements anywhere from 3-10 months.

How?

We meet in person or for a video chat and get to know eachother! I want us both to feel completely confident in working together and excited about it.

Deposit?

A fifty percent deposit and electronically signed contract will secure your wedding photography. (In fairness to you, weddings are booked on a first come first serve basis, the sooner you book the less likely your date will be scooped up)

Before the wedding?

I help my couples with planning details such as scheduling photography into the timeline, planning locations and scouting, recommendations and connecting with other vendors, and much more.

I photograph 25 weddings and and 10 elopements maximum each year, so that I can provide the time and attention that you deserve for this once in a lifetime celebrations.

The Flow

Wonderful and enjoyable weddings require a bit of advance planning to feel effortless and memorable on the day. A timeline will help you in this process.

Every wedding is unique and planning a timeline with me ensures that you don't miss a minute of this time or an opportunity for a photograph you'll keep for a lifetime.

Getting Ready

1 to 2 hours
Be sure to choose a location for getting ready with enough natural light and a setting that you feel reflects the rest of your wedding day. We like to allow 1 to 2 hours for getting ready photography, this is when we capture candid moments with your closest loved ones and set the scene with details.

First Look / Reveal

30 minutes
This is optional, but many couples find it's really nice to see eachother and have photographs before their ceremony, to maximize time spent enjoying the festivities. Please account for driving time if this location is away from the venue.

Family Portraits

30 to 45 minutes
Group portrait timing will vary widely depending on the number of family combinations, we carefully craft a list of these combinations and estimate the length of time prior to the timeline being finalized.

Wedding Party

20 minutes
This time can vary and depends on location, size of wedding party, etc.

Your Reception

2 to 6 hours
Cocktails and beer, your first moments as a married couple, dinner, dancing, friends and family together.

Sunset Portraits

15 minutes
Sunset portraits! This is absolutely my favorite time to step away from the party briefly to capture some amazing golden hour portraits of you together, reveling in the amazing day.
