Hey, welcome!
      I'm Sarah

Destination wedding photographer, based in Portland, Maine + Denver, Colorado, photographing weddings all over the Northeast and Western US.

Born and raised in Maine, my heart is in the ocean, the mountains, lakes, and forests. I find peace in nature wherever I go, I connect with people and places through listening to their stories, and being a story teller is, without a doubt, what I am meant to do.

I picked up my first camera as a kid, and trained in Fine Art Photography and Photojournalism in Boston and founded Sarah Morrill Photography in 2010 out of a desire to meet new people, have amazing experiences, cultivate creative freedom, and continue to grow and challenge myself every day. Wedding photography has given me the incredible fortune to witness powerful and hopeful love, to experience beautiful, unique couples and families, and to document their stories.  I’d love to hear about you, who you love, and where you are going in life.

As luck would have it, my work has allowed my to travel all over the US and internationally.  To see what I’ve been up to, follow my adventures here.

Grateful to have been featured in these publications: Junebug Weddings, The Maine Magazine Wedding Issue100 Layer Cake, Bklyn Bride, and DIY Bride, among others.

      Let's Talk!
      Do you travel for weddings?

I photograph weddings throughout the continental US and Worldwide, I split my time photographing six months of the year in New England and traveling the remainder.

Should we do an engagement session?

I would love to! If you need photographs for your website or your save the dates, definitely. But.. even if you have already sent out save the dates, having a session prior to the wedding is really beneficial. It helps that we’ve met and photographed before the wedding, our bond and familiarity can do worlds of good for your photographs on the wedding day. Also, I have had many couple’s tell me how happy they are they they took advantage of this opportunity because they have more of a selection of photographs to use in the future.

      What are your rates?

Wedding day coverage starts at $4000 for a full day and $1600 for a partial day.

How far in advance should I book my wedding?

I recommend 9+ months before the wedding. As you get closer to the wedding, it's much more likely that your preferred wedding professionals will be unavailable.

Can you reccommend a florist? Hair and make-up? A DJ?

I am happy to tell you who I love to work with. I have a fantastic list of referrals referrals to share with you when you book your wedding photography.

Do you work with an assistant photographer?

When a wedding is over 70+ guests, I always work with one of my assistant photographers. Jo Silver is my full time associate photographer, and I also have three amazing, talented and trusted photographers that work with me on a rotating schedule. They each bring their own fantastic game and set of skills as photographers and all around badass human beings.

When will we see our wedding photographs?

I send a sneak peak 1 to 2 weeks after the wedding. Full gallery delivery varies based on the time of year and ranges from 4 to 12 weeks maximum.

We are ready! How do we book?

First, e-mail me or message me through the contact form on my website! Booking requires a fifty percent retainer fee a= and a signed contract. Use my contact form or e-mail me at sarahmorrillphoto@gmail.com

      How do you accept payment?

Preferred: Check or cash. I also accept credit cards and Paypal.

      Do you have insurance?

Definitely! Liability and equipment insurance covers myself and my assistants.

What can we expect after the wedding?

One to two weeks after the wedding I will send you a few photographs as a sneak peak. Then your full gallery will be delivered four to twelve weeks after the wedding electronically and with print, if you added them on to your package. For a full day wedding, a 8 hour wedding gallery averages around 500-700 photographs.

What are your family photo sessions like?

My priority in a family session is fun and exploring. Definitely don’t expect me to say “cheese…”, ever. Be prepared to hug eachother a lot. I prefer to photograph your family in the places you naturally spend your time, doing the things your love. If it’s snuggling in bed, baking a cake at home, swimming at the local pool, or taking the dog for a walk in your neighborhood – let’s go there! Most of my sessions take place outside, or indoors with beautiful natural light.

      What should we wear?

What makes you feel like your self and beautiful. Don’t match! If you want to wear heels, go for it, but bring a change of shoes. If you want to wear your Muck boots, that’s great too. I always suggest bringing a change of shirt or jacket.

      How long does it take?

Sessions are 1.5 to 2 hours. We move around alot and the time flies. Occasionally I offer mini sessions.

“Booking Sarah as our photographer was undoubtedly one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding. From the moment she was on-board, she was supportive, attentive, and competent with every detail relating to our photography needs.”

“Sarah did such an amazing job as our wedding photographer! I love her style and we’re so happy with the shots she got. She goes with the flow and is really creative. Her relaxed approach helped us feel more more natural and I think it shows in our photos. The photos we got really capture the day perfectly.”

"She is incredibly talented, creative, professional, accommodating, passionate, so much fun to work with, and her portfolio speaks for itself! Sarah was prompt and professional in all communications leading up to our engagement shoot and our wedding. She made us feel incredibly comfortable in front of the camera and went out of her way to accommodate and create some of the wacky shots we had in mind. She also recommended some incredible vendors which we loved and hired. Sarah was instrumental in planning our wedding day timeline, and even drove my husband and I around between our first look and ceremony because we had forgotten to arrange transportation! We love her vision and our photos look incredible... We love Sarah Morrill Photography and give her our highest recommendation!"
