About Sarah

For me, the story began many moons ago when my Grandmother gave me the family 35mm film camera and I shot and developed my first roll of film in the darkroom.  That was it!  Fast-forward fifteen years and I am a destination wedding photographer with a BFA in Fine-Art Photography and Photojournalism, having studied under some of the world’s premier photographers + photojournalists.  Originally from Maine, I have lived from Portland, OR, to Seattle, WA, to Boston.

Image-making has allowed me to meet unique, beautiful people and share in their joyful celebrations, explore new places, be outside in nature, and document a part of life that is deeply meaningful to me: love, culture and relationships. I’m truly invested in making beautiful, timeless images, and in photography being a fun and memorable part of your wedding experience.  Home base is Portland, Maine but nowhere is too far to travel for a good story.

To see what I’ve been up to, follow my adventures here.

Featured in publications like Junebug Weddings, The Maine Magazine Wedding Issue100 Layer Cake, Bklyn Bride, and DIY Bride, among others.

PORTRAIT FAQ:
Do you travel for weddings?

I photograph weddings throughout the continental US and Worldwide, I split my time photographing six months of the year in New England and traveling the remainder.

Should we do an engagement session?

I would love to! If you need photographs for your website or your save the dates, definitely. But.. even if you have already sent out save the dates, having a session prior to the wedding is really beneficial. It helps that we’ve met and photographed before the wedding, our bond and familiarity can do worlds of good for your photographs on the wedding day. Also, I have had many couple’s tell me how happy they are they they took advantage of this opportunity because they have more of a selection of photographs to use in the future.

What are your rates?

Full wedding day coverage starts at $5200, partial day packages start at $2800. Please inquire for custom Elopement Photography Quotes.

How far in advance should I book my wedding?

I recommend 10 - 16 months before the wedding. As you get closer to the wedding, it's much more likely that your preferred wedding professionals will be unavailable.

Can you reccommend a florist? Hair and make-up? A DJ?

I am happy to tell you who I love to work with. I have a fantastic list of referrals referrals to share with you when you book your wedding photography.

Do you work with an assistant photographer?

When a wedding is over 70+ guests, I always work with one of my assistant photographers. Jo Silver is my full time associate photographer, and I also have three amazing, talented and trusted photographers that work with me on a rotating schedule. They each bring their own fantastic game and set of skills as photographers and all around badass human beings.

When will we see our wedding photographs?

I send a sneak peak 1 to 2 weeks after the wedding. Full gallery delivery varies based on the time of year and ranges from 4 to 12 weeks maximum.

We are ready! How do we book?

First, e-mail me or message me through the contact form on my website! Booking requires a fifty percent retainer fee a= and a signed contract. Use my contact form or e-mail me at sarahmorrillphoto@gmail.com

How do you accept payment?

Preferred: Check or cash. I also accept credit cards and Paypal.

Do you have insurance?

Definitely! Liability and equipment insurance covers myself and my assistants.

What can we expect after the wedding?

One to two weeks after the wedding I will send you a few photographs as a sneak peak. Then your full gallery will be delivered four to twelve weeks after the wedding electronically and with print, if you added them on to your package. For a full day wedding, a 8 hour wedding gallery averages around 500-700 photographs.

What are your family photo sessions like?

My priority in a family session is fun and exploring. Definitely don’t expect me to say “cheese…”, ever. Be prepared to hug eachother a lot. I prefer to photograph your family in the places you naturally spend your time, doing the things your love. If it’s snuggling in bed, baking a cake at home, swimming at the local pool, or taking the dog for a walk in your neighborhood – let’s go there! Most of my sessions take place outside, or indoors with beautiful natural light.

What should we wear?

What makes you feel like your self and beautiful. Don’t match! If you want to wear heels, go for it, but bring a change of shoes. If you want to wear your Muck boots, that’s great too. I always suggest bringing a change of shirt or jacket.

How long does it take?

Sessions are 1.5 to 2 hours. We move around alot and the time flies. Occasionally I offer mini sessions.
