Job Description: Associate Photographer

We are looking for a seasoned professional photographer to join our expanding team, acting as a trusted representative of our brand. This role is pivotal to our growth, enhancing our capacity to cater to a wider clientele while ensuring a sophisticated and positive customer experience. We seek an ideal candidate with a minimum of 5-10 years of professional experience in wedding and/or commercial photography.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the owner/lead photographer to ensure seamless coordination.

  • Sales Calls: Execute sales calls to contribute to client bookings.

  • Calendar Management: Efficiently manage schedules for event execution.

  • Event Execution: Deliver luxury event work to the highest standard.

  • Photography: Capture events in a technically proficient and creative manner, adhering to SMP's acclaimed standard.

  • Client Interaction: Interface directly with clients, ensuring positive experiences.

  • Leadership: Lead event photography and collaborate with assistant photographers.

  • Problem Solving: Demonstrate the ability to think quickly and react effectively to address and resolve issues during events, ensuring a positive and proficient resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience as a professional wedding and/or commercial photographer.

  • Professionalism: Responsible and trustworthy, acting as an extension of the brand.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent client and professional interaction skills.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in natural light, off-camera, and on-camera flash photography.

  • Equipment: Own a complete, well-serviced kit of gear with prime lenses, multiple full-frame DSLR or mirrorless camera bodies, and professional-grade flashes.

Skills:

  • A meticulous and proactive individual with a background in the photography industry.

  • Demonstrates sound judgment, adept at prioritization, and skilled in decision-making.

  • Comfortable engaging with luxury clientele and vendor-partners.

  • Adept at capturing both planned and spontaneous moments.

  • Possesses a resourceful and motivated attitude.

  • Flourishes in a creative and fast-paced environment.

  • Adaptable to diverse photographic conditions, venues, and client preferences.

  • Manages unexpected challenges with composure and seeks creative solutions.

Photographic Experience:

  • Capture high-quality, artistic images that align with the quality & aesthetic of the brand.

  • Ensure consistency in style and artistic approach.

  • Proficiency in manual focus and manual exposure photography.

  • Proficiency in analog film photography a bonus.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the owner and other team members to achieve a cohesive visual narrative.

  • Take direction effectively and contribute creatively to achieve the desired outcome.

Client Interaction:

  • Maintain a prompt, professional, and personable demeanor when interacting with clients.

  • Assist in creating a positive and comfortable atmosphere during events.

Equipment Management:

  • Carefully handle and maintain photography equipment to ensure optimal performance.

  • Be prepared to troubleshoot technical issues during shoots.

Timeline Adherence:

  • Work efficiently to meet deadlines and adhere to the timeline of photography events.

  • Manage time effectively to capture key moments without disruption.

Representing the Brand:

  • Uphold the brand's image and reputation through professionalism and exceptional work.

  • Maintain a positive and collaborative attitude that aligns with the company's values.

Client Privacy and Confidentiality:

  • Respect and uphold client privacy and confidentiality, ensuring the security of all sensitive information.

Technology & Programs:

  • G-suite (email, calendar, forms).

  • Zoom/Google Meet (Video Conferencing)

  • Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop (Image editing will not be required, but understanding of these programs is important)

Availability:

  • Must be available 50% of weekends from May through October 2024 & 2025 (long-term availability a plus).

  • Comfortable working late hours and taking sales calls on weeknights.
